What is Pronto?

Pronto is a platform for student-to-student communication. To ensure a secure platform, Pronto access is strictly limited to students and SPCS staff, and all content can be moderated.

Code of Conduct

All communication via Pronto must adhere to the Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies Code of Conduct. If you encounter any inappropriate behavior on Pronto, report it to spcs-studentlife@stanford.edu immediately.

Failure to comply with the Code of Conduct may result in removal from the program, probation, or other disciplinary action. In all cases, program staff will contact parents/legal guardians to inform them of the participant's behavior and ensure a proper plan is in place for moving forward. Violations of the law may be reported to the Stanford Department of Public Safety.

Safety

To ensure the safety of participants and that online communication between participants is appropriate and positive, all Pronto messages are subject to review by program staff as needed. SPCS program assistants will monitor Pronto communication during program hours.

Don’t share content or make comments that could be harmful, offensive, or disrespectful to others—even if you're joking. Always think before you post and aim to contribute with kindness and respect.

What is Responsible Digital Citizenship?

Responsible digital citizenship means using the internet and technology smartly and respectfully. Just as we learn good manners in real life, we also need to learn good behavior online.

Guidelines for Responsible Digital Citizenship

By following these guidelines, SPCS participants  can create a positive and respectful environment for online
communication:

Respectful Communication: Treat others with kindness and respect, even if you disagree with them. Avoid using offensive language, insults, or derogatory remarks.

Think Before You Post: Take a moment to consider how your message might be interpreted by others before hitting send. Make sure what you post is appropriate, constructive and contribute positively to the conversation.

Be Mindful of Tone: Remember that tone can be difficult to convey online. Avoid using all caps, which can be interpreted as shouting, and use emojis or punctuation to clarify your tone when necessary.

No Spamming: Avoid flooding the chat with multiple messages in a short period. Respect the space of others and allow everyone a chance to participate in the conversation.

Protect Privacy: Do not share personal information such as addresses, phone numbers, or passwords on the chat platform. Respect the privacy of others and refrain from sharing their personal information without permission.

Be Patient and Courteous: Not everyone may respond immediately, and that's okay. Practice patience and courtesy while waiting for responses.

Violation of any of the above guidelines and rules will result in removal from Pronto and/or other disciplinary
actions outlined in program policies.
